Well, this is a new venture for me.

I’ve been a SAHM for 7 years, and after 6 years of a daily life that went something like this:

diapers, breakfast, diapers, lunch, diapers, dinner, maybe shower, did I brush my teeth?, more diapers, have I been to the bathroom today?, ah, finally bed time….who’s crying now?…

I’ve decided to add a little excitement to my day.  A little intellectual stimulation. Or at least a venue where I can get things off my chest and share my experiences with others.

Two out of my three  children are now in school, so for the first time in a long while, I have time to think.

I considered using a pen name for this adventure, but I have always thought that pretending to be someone other than myself was too tiring…too much work.  So this is me. Wide Open. You’ll learn about me as we go through this journey, but here are some basics you might like to know about me:

  • I’m married. We just started year 10! And it has been an adventure to say the least.
  • I’m the mother to 3 sweet babies that I often refer to as my “delayed triplets” since they are each 17 months apart. And no, I didn’t plan it that way. I didn’t plan it at all. But that’s another blog entry. Or rather, that’s another MONTH of blog entries.
  • I grew up in rural Tennessee and returned after 2 stints abroad, 2 college degrees, 1 venture up north.
  • I love Jesus, cotton farmers, carpenters, artists, trees, gardens, and just about anything with words on it.

And normally the writer might say something like enjoy. But frankly, I don’t really care if you enjoy this or not. Enjoy, in my mind, is always happy–like the first bite of the birthday cake your mother always made when you were little. That is IN JOY.

What I do hope is that you relate. That you find it real. Real doesn’t always = enjoy.

Sometimes real makes me want to spit it out. Sometimes swallow it fast so I don’t have to taste it.  Sometimes savor it.

Real

That’s what I hope this is to you.

That’s what I hope it is to me because this is wHere Life is Real.

See you down the road,
JW
